Ron Paul to call on Americans to look at third parties
According to an Associated Press report, Ron Paul, Libertarian Presidential nominee early in his career and a current member of the House from Texas, will announce at a press conference today that Americans would be better off electing a minor party nominee.

What we really need is to move to the Canadian system of simply registering political parties on an equal basis, instead of this clumsy, labor-intensive, undemocratic system of requiring parties to gather signatures just to get on the ballot. Without universal ballot access we’re stuck with the two corporate-state parties, fed to financial girth with corporate monies, full of wind and bluster but not in any wise interested in the real welfare of the mass of people who muist work three jobs till they drop to make the elites safe. We need a federal elections board made up of real independents and reps of all the parties, and not just this “bi-partisan” crap that squeezes out everyone else. Look at the presidential “debates”. Go to their website and see if you can comment or write them to object to keeping out Nader, McKinney, Barr, and Paul!
Way to go Ron Paul!!!!!!
DesertGreenie – You are so right. I have attempted to write to the major party campaigns and either you get no response whatsoever or they just add you to their mailing list as if you are a supporter. Ugh. We definitely need more local third party representation.
It should be also heralded that Elizabeth May, Canadian Green Party leader is probably going to be in the debates after first being denied entrance!!!!
This has been huge – a Google news search results in something over 500 hits for similar articles. It’s been in every major newspaper (either online or in print). This is probably more press than Cynthia has gotten since the convention combined. Thank you Ron Paul!
Now Paul needs to cut a deal with MSNBC or CNN to moderate a debate between McKinney, Nader, Barr and Baldwin. Wouldn’t THAT be good television!
I’m thinking that if that debate were to happen, and given Barr’s recent history, he may not show up to the debate at the last moment and instead be in a room down the hall debating himself.
(I chose not to point out the obvious play on words. OOPS! I just did!)
