I must say that, in all honesty, with all the stumbles, missteps, lack of funds and confusion, this is still the most exciting political day I have seen since 1999, and I am so happy to be a Green today!
I must agree since I started identifying myself as a Green in 2003 this is by far the most exciting election cycle I’ve seen.
Well so far, at 7:10pm MST, Electoral votes are 175-64, for Obama.
I share the sentiment about being Green, although I wish my state were more “green” in its politics. I am so excited about this day and have had folks, even here in Utah, tell me of the satisfaction they felt when they voted for McKinney/Clemente – including my son!
My daughter is supporting Obama, but she is 6 years old. They had a mock election at school today and she voted for Obama, who won 160-60. Her little friend told me after school that he wanted to “write in Cynthia” but decided it was too much work so he voted for Obama.
Yup – mock election at the elementary school had only two candidates. I told her teacher (my neighbor) that I’m betting there will be more choices in 2012, that is, I’m going to demand it from the School District, not the school.
My school held a mock election too (grades 7-12), only we had all the candidates on the ballot. Obama got 85%, McCain 5%. And Nader got 6%! (sadly, Mckinney didn’t get any – teachers weren’t allowed to vote, just students).
Despite my plea for paper ballots, it was all done electronically, and wouldn’t you know it – the website went down for days before we knew the results….
Les Evenchick from Lousiana, NC Delegate, has posted these early results to the NC list:
From a Louisiana Delegate – early results

Matthew Britton over on Green Change has reported this from Massachussetts:
There are several interesting propositions on the ballot in MA tonight. First of all, a proposition to remove the state income tax was defeated. More importantly though, ballot question 2 would decriminalize possession of less than an ounce of marijuana (it would still be subject to a $100 fine) and ballot question 3 would prohibit the inhumane practice of greyhound racing in the state. Both of these look like they are going to pass by large margins, check out the latest stats for these questions and all other ballot initiatives at news.aol.com/elections/2008/ballot. There’s also a lot of interesting, but somewhat less hopeful news on gay marriage questions around the country.
848 pm Louisiana early results
McCain 148,000+
Obama 99,ooo+
Ron Paul 1,237
Nader 956
McKinney 909 Green party

Thank you Les!
Were you the one that pointed to the C-SPAN site over at Green Change? Great source for the Prez race.
The first thing that had to be done was to expunge the GOP from the Executive Branch. That has apparently happened.
The next job, IMHO, is to encourage the further splintering of the Republican and Democratic Parties into their respective constituencies, and the restructuring of the electoral system into a true multiparty democracy, with a level playing field where the Greens can participate in a truly meaningful way.
I would also suggest that we consider the 2012 contest as having begun. Our candidates should keep up their efforts to spread awareness of the Green difference.
