Illinois Green Party Primary: Reichel Holds 11 Vote Lead

With 99% of the votes counted, just 11 votes separates Matt Reichel from Deb Gordils in the Green Party Primary for the Special Election in Illinois’ 5th Congressional District.

According to the Chicago Tribune, with 571 of 578 precincts reporting, the Green Party totals are:

Matt Reichel: 165 (34%)
Deb Gordils: 154 (32%)
Mark Frederickson: 69 (14%)
Alan Augustson: 62 (13%)
Simon Ribeiro: 36 (7%)

While statistically one could state that Reichel has likely won this primary, a dozen votes from 7 remaining precincts could put Gordils in front. No word on when the final vote tally will be complete.

The general election will be April 7, in which Reichel or Gordils will face Democrat Mike Quigley, a Cook County Commissioner, and Republican Rosanna Pulido, a leader with the Illinois Minutemen.
