It should be interesting in the UK with the expenses scandal going on there. I say that the Greens were polling around 11%. And that equals more seats because UK uses proportional representation – STV – for the European Elections.
I think I saw somewhere that the Greens in Greece are polling as high as 8% which is pretty amazing.
That is amazing. One reason I believe the GP will not disappear in the US is that we are a part of an international movement based on Non-violence, Grassroots Democracy, Social Justice and Ecological Wisdom, wherever we are.
I regret to say that I won’t be available election day/night to provide coverage. I hope others will be able to post results here.
Walter: the UK does NOT use STV for Euro elections. That is completely wrong. It does use one of the forms of proportional representation. However, STV is only used in the Irish Republic and in Malta.
In UK European elections, a closed list system is used, however STV is an open list system.
This is the UK’s European system:
When a party wins a seat the number of their total votes is divided by the number of seats won plus 1. This usually gives way for another party to win the next seat, and again, the winner will have their total vote divided. And so it goes on until all the seats are filled.

It’s very nice to see the Green Parties of Europe doing well. I just wish that the Greens here in the US would do as good.
Thank you Mark for the clarification. I trust you live in the UK? Either way, I appreciate the info.
TPR…from your lips to God’s ears! We’re working on it, but of course, the going is hard.
Hello Gregg, as you thought, I do live in the UK/Britain.
