Vote Rev. Billy News: The Neighborhoods Demand a Rent Freeze

Reverend Billy Talen’s Green campaign for mayor of NYC continues to spread the gospel of social justice, grassroots democracy, and sustainability. This week, the good reverend is protesting rent hikes, preparing to get on the ballot, looking to hire a volunteer coordinator, and generally bringing people together to rock out.

Tomorrow the Rent Guidelines Board votes on raising rents for Rent Stabilized Apartments.

They have already indicated that they will raise rents again this year!  Tenants across the city have lobbied for a Rent Freeze.  The Neighborhoods Demand a Rent Freeze.  We need it!

Join Rev. Billy Talen and tenants from across the city in protesting the out of touch Rent Guidelines Board and its board of bankers. Tuesday, June 23, 5:30-9:30pm, Cooper Union, 7 East 7th Street, Manhattan.

We need your help to let New Yorkers know that Bloomberg isn’t the only option.  We will meet at the park directly south of Cooper Union at Astor Place at 5PM.

DON’T MISS our Wednesday meeting at HQ 250 Lafayette or the Thursday HAPPY HOUR MIX-UP 9pm following Green Party NYC Planning Meeting.

We need all Rev. Billy Talen supporters to link to our fabulous Singing Endorsement video, our tribute to the Fabulous 500 Neighborhoods Of New York City! Link it from your Facebook account, or embed it on your blog, MySpace or Tumblr page. It’s up to US, New York! Let’s spread the word!

Jonathan Tasini wants more democracy in NY State and fewer back-room deals deciding our
representatives and policies. That’s why he’s calling on the Democratic Party to cease their
efforts to “clear the field” of contenders for the 2010 U.S. Senate Primary. You can speak up
for democracy and against “machine” politics by signing up at opendebatenewyork.org.

Vote-a-lujah!

See You in the Streets
