Actually we received some new information about some of these candidates that I haven't acted on in cleaning up our own list. This is what I got:

The following are NOT candidates:
David Brooks
Greta Browne
Shawnya Calp

Sorry folks, I am on vacation in New York City visiting friends and family. I'm hoping to get some first hand green candidate coverage but we'll see.

By the way: I look forward to more posts by Green Party Watch. For those of us who love this place and check obsessively, I think some of the slow posting rate is obviously due to election day being so close, and I also heard that one of the contributors is working on a ballot access lawsuit.

I feel guilty with all the free time I have to post and comment. Since there are not any local campaigns that need my help (and since the electoral landscape of our whole county seems to bleak to even shake a stick at) I have too much free time this week!!!!

I am even try to promote the Rev Billy Campaign a bit, but it is in the next town over (NYC!), I can't even vote for him!

I like the Green Party Watch list.

I think that everyone who wants to run for office should be allowed easy access to the ballot, to let the voters decide.

So, I think that--as long as candidates are sincerely "Green Party"--it is okay if Green Party Watch mentions them, whether the candidate is on the ballot or not.

There are some candidates above who I believe got thrown off the ballot. So, since they aren't official, maybe they don't belong on the GP-US national web-site.

But, it is not horrible to mention their names in passing.

I like that GPW provided web sites, so readers can check into things.

And, I think that a list of candidates is always better to be inclusive, rather than leave someone off who could have used the attention. I struggled with that problem myself when I created my People's President Page for 2008.

Greg:

GPW is doing an excellent job. My critique is not with you entirely (although this information was regurgitated from GPUS, so I'm not completely absolving GPW of fault as information from this website is broadcast throughout the internet community and recylced by other political sites). I was throwing this question out to the broader audience to find out what is the real number of candidates actually running for office in 2009. As the saying goes: "facts matter" and accurate facts are all the more important.

Actually Gregg, he's right - I took most of this information from the election database on gp.org:

http://gp.org/elections/candidates/index.php

There are some inconsistencies between the national site and state sites, but I tried to put them all down so as not to omit anyone who is actually running.

Green Party watch doing fine work.

Please keep the reports on candidates coming as best you can.

This one mention here - with mainstream media blackout - might be the only mention greens get other than newspaper voter guides.

Thank you.

Kevin,

This site is NOT an official Green Party website. If you are correct, and you very well may be, the fault lies not with GPUS, but with us here at Green Party Watch.

We are all amateurs and volunteers here at GPW. We do our level best to get accurate information to our readers. Please don't attribute our failings to anyone but us.

Is this an accurate list? The Green Party of PA (GPPA) website has only five candidates for this year's (2009) election: http://www.greenpartypa.org/index.php?module=pagesetter&func=main&tid=1&filter=Year%5Eeq%5E90

I personally know several people from PA on your posted list that are not running again.

Seems to me that GPUS is recycling election data and assuming that people who were elected five years ago (auditors in PA are on a five year cycle), and who are up for election, will be campaigning again.
