The Marin Independent Journal reports that Pam Hartwell-Herrero finished first of six candidates for two seats on the Fairfax town council, joining fellow Greens Lew Tremaine and Larry Bragman to form a Green Party majority on the five-member council.
According to gp.org, Fairfax is the fourth city in US history to have a Green majority in local government, after Arcata, CA (1996-98), Sebastopol, CA (2000-06), and New Paltz, NY (2003-04).
A newcomer to electoral politics, Pam Hartwell-Herrero has worked as the director of Sustainable Fairfax for 5 years.
