According to the News and Star, the Green Party in Carlisle, England, is opposed to a proposal to lengthen shopping hours next year during the holiday season.
Legislation restricts larger stores, any over 3,000 square feet, to opening for six hours anytime between 10am and 6pm.
Boxing Day 2010 (December 26th) falls on a Sunday and so retailers are asking for the law to be relaxed, arguing that in the current climate it has become one of the most important days of the year.

Store hours shouldn’t be limited period. Stores should be made to close on Sundays. Let retail workers decide when there family day should be. Don’t let others decide that don’t work in retail. Retail workers can not decide when other people have there family days. Retail workers are made to feel guilty that other people work on Sundays. There are millions of people off on Sundays and they are not given the guilty treatment. We are all different. There is nothing wrong with wanting our Sundays as a day of rest. Retail workers don’t let others belittle you. Do what is best for you. Speak out and keep speaking out..Say No to Sunday trading period!!

let the store owners decide when to have their stores open or closed. we have to many of these people who are crying about sunday shopping and they don’t work on sundays but they buy retail things on sundays, coffee , internet , tv , telephone , gas , restraunts etc etc. retail owners and workers want to be opened on sundays. it is nothing new to buy retail things on sundays , it has been going on for years. don’t be hypocrites say yes to sunday shopping , the majority wants it.

here in nova scotia , canada , we have decided to have our stores open on sundays. there are workers who are enjoying the hours these extra days provide. and the shoppers are supporting the decision wholeheartedly. no one is forced to work on sundays , and there is never a shortage of people willing to work. our government has shown it has the well being of the majority of the people ,in nova scotia , in mind when they let the people decide whether to be open or closed on sundays. yes , we have one person , who claims he represents all of the retail workers , and he is crying and complaining about this decision. this person does not work on sundays himself , and he wants to tell every body else what they should do on sundays. however , we are working and happily shopping on sundays. however you decide , remember one thing , make this decision on your own without the influence of outsiders who have no say in your business.
