Jill Stein: Rally for CORI reform on Thursday 6 May

Jill Stein, the Massachusetts Green-Rainbow Party candidate for governor, has invited supporters via her facebook page to join her campaign team for a rally at the MA State House at 12 noon on Thursday 6 May in support of reforming CORI, Massachusetts’ criminal background check system that keeps residents from accessing jobs and housing. Details from Massachusetts Jobs With Justice below:

Thu, 05/06/2010 – 12:00pm – 2:00pm

The Commonwealth CORI Coalition is calling on all supporters of CORI
reform to join us at the State House for a Rally and Lobby Day.
Speaker DeLeo has made commitments to bring CORI to a vote this
session.  Now that the House is done with the budget, we have a window
of opportunity to pass CORI reform in May.

Rally & Lobby Day for CORI Reform
Thursday, May 6th
12pm – Rally on State House Steps
1pm   – Visit Legislative Offices
2pm   – Debrief and Next Steps – Room B1

The CORI, the state’s criminal background check system, keeps
residents from accessing jobs and housing.  CORI Reform was passed
last November by the Senate, but is still awaiting a vote in the
House. CORI reform will increase taxpaying residents, reduce
joblessness and help reduce crime. Demand CORI reform now!

  1. I am so elated that this CORI reform bill may reach the House for a vote.
With a felony, a MS from UMass Amherst, a BS from Wentworth Institute of Technology, master electricians’ license I can finally look for work outside of the Boston International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and pass a background check and return to work!
I have been collecting disability for 15 years with little motivation to do anything else.
