Coverage of Illinois 5-way gubernatorial debate with Rich Whitney
On Thursday 8 July, Illinois Green Party gubernatorial candidate Rich Whitney participated in a debate at Chicago State University sponsored by Free and Equal. All candidates with a reasonable chance of being on the ballot were invited, but Democratic incumbent Pat Quinn and Republican Bill Brady declined to attend. Along with Whitney, debate participants included Libertarian Lex Green, Constitution Party candidate Michael White, and independents William “Dock” Walls and Scott Lee Cohen.

Watched this last night!
Super. Rich Whitney is very Governor-like. The man is fearless. Free & Equal did an excellent job putting this together, and running the debate.
The Chicago Sun Times article was also well done. The Sun Times is to be applauded for covering this Green Party debate.
Rich Whitney’s solutions are common-sense, pro law and order in a very humane way, and the most socially and fiscally responsible. You might even say fiscally conservative. Rich identifies sources of revenue, and were tax dollar spending waste and silly subsidies, welfare for the wealthy must be cut…

Floyd Bayne candidates calling for bringing troops home…
From today’s Culpepper Star Exponent….
“Bayne said he did not support the war in Iraq nine years ago and does not support a continued U.S. presence in the Middle Eastern country.
As for the recent shift to fighting Afghanistan, he said he does not understand how an American presence there is helping anything either.
“We were going to find the Taliban and get them out of there — well, that hasn’t been successful. They are starting to make resurgence. Who knows if Afghanistan is a reliable ally,” Bayne said. “They are happy with us as long as we keep sending financial aid.”
An advocate for “a non-interventionist foreign policy,” he said America needs to stop occupying other countries.
“We have troops stationed in over 100 countries around the world. How much do you suppose we could save in taxes if we didn’t spend all that money supporting our troops in all these nations?”
Just bringing 100,000 home from Germany, Japan, Korea: 200,000 from Iraq & Afghanistan would save at least $300 Billion tax dollars…
