Seattle Times covers Roy Olson, WA Green for Congress
The Seattle Times reports on Washington Green Party candidate for US House of Representatives (WA-9) Roy Olson:
Olson, the Green Party candidate, works as an actuary in the state Insurance Commissioner’s Office.
“I’m at a stage in my career when I’m approaching retirement,” said Olson, 64. “So I approached the Greens to see if they were running someone. They weren’t so I didn’t see any reason not to run myself.”
Olson said he was disappointed the health-care bill didn’t contain a single-payer provision. He said he wants to tax job exports so companies don’t profit by sending jobs overseas, and supports a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
Olson opposes war spending but doesn’t consider himself a pacifist.

Green Party’s Roy Olson is a two plus two, as those of us in the accounting biz, jokingly refer to the financial profession.
We need Green Party financial experts like the Green Party’s Roy Olson to fix the mess left by two larger parties…
Here’s video story on attempts to Go Green with hybrid taxis…something the Green Party has pushed for years around the globe..
Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Friday he did not know what is next in his administration’s attempt to convert the city’s taxi fleet into all fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles.

Steve Baker, chairman of the York County Green party, said he also hopes the campaign season will generate more registrations. Although they don’t have any candidates from York County, he wants local Greens to rally around U.S. Senate candidate Mel Packer.

Good for you Roy. I am half tempted to run for Congress myself- as a Green or other party that is oriented to the general wellbeing of people, such as, not going extinct by wars and environmental collapse– cheerful things like that. Issues for which the Democrats and Republicans are useless.
I’m thinking, if more of us make a $10 donation to your campaign then at least, we will show up in the FEC filings and we will be able to find each other. Huffington Post has a terrific system for looking up people and their contributions– it’s more graphical than the one on the FEC website although, it seems less complete.
PS why aren’t you a pacifist! Possibly, you are but don’t realize it.
