Greens start “Draft Jill Stein for President” website

Green Party volunteers have started a “Draft Jill Stein for President” website on jillstein.org. The site asks supporters to pledge volunteer time and money for a potential Jill Stein presidential campaign by October 24th, when the Massachusetts Green and former gubernatorial candidate will announce her plans regarding the Green Party presidential nomination race. The site’s introduction reads:

Let’s take our Democracy back from Wall Street and rebuild the American Dream. It’s time for peace, justice and a Green New Deal. Help us organize. Pledge to donate.

The site is also arranging a money bloom (“our Green version of a money bomb”), in which supporters pledge to donate on the day of the announcement. As of October 10th, $1,905 of the $10,000 has been pledged.

The “Occupy Wall Street” movement that’s sweeping the nation is pro-American and anti-Republican.

That’s a key thing to keep in mind right now, when so many people are sick and tired of Congress.

They are, in general, especially upset at GOP leaders’ plans to kill any grand attempt to reform the U.S. financial system that’s stacked against ordinary Americans.

I know the Occupy movement is having some effect, because ultra-conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh called the Americans involved in the group “idiots,” “clowns” and other names Monday.

And GOP presidential candidates such as Herman Cain flail around widely, questioning whether supporters of “Occupy Wall Street” are real Americans.

    Give me a break.
