From Jill Stein and the Green Shadow Cabinet:
Greetings fellow climate justice campaigners,
You may have already heard about what will be the largest climate rally the world has ever seen, The People’s Climate March, taking place in New York City September 21st. There’s a lot more happening on and around that day. I wanted to invite you to the Climate Convergence for People, Planet and Peace over Profit, a paradigm-shifting conference, skill-share and festival starting Friday, September 19th, that the GreenShadow Cabinet is helping to organize. If you can come to NYC, I hope you will attend and march with us in a diverse Convergence contingent, one of the 7 recognized contingents of the People’s Climate March.
The Convergence brings us together across movements and national borders to harness the transformative power we actually have once we begin to collaborate. Indeed, in this era of historic crisis – from climate meltdown to the struggles created by poverty and war – it’s more critical than ever to connect the dots across the turmoil that surrounds us and address the underlying predatory economic and political system driving all of these disasters.
We cannot solve the climate emergency while the predatory neoliberal assault rages on in all other sectors of society. So the Convergence is working to expand the “climate” movement into a unifying movement for People, Planet and Peace over Profit, calling for system solutions as big as the crisis barreling down on us, AKA a Green New Deal: 10s of millions of jobs to create 100% clean renewable energy by 2030, new water, health and public transit systems, and climate friendly organic food production – paid for by taxing the top 1%, and slashing the bloated military budget.
We are Converging not only to march, but to advance the concrete agenda, strategy and infrastructure for this movement of movements that is emerging before our very eyes, and none to soon.
Activist speakers include Vandana Shiva, Tim DeChristopher, Ann Petermann, Naomi Klein, Oscar Olivera, Cheri Honkala, Maureen Taylor, Margaret Flowers, Kevin Zeese, Lauren Regan, Chris Williams, yours truly and many more.
To find out more about the incredible workshops, teach-ins, speakers, music, and artful activism at the Convergence, and how to connect with us at the march, go here. To register, go here. I look forward to seeing you there, building the movement we need to ensure that People, Planet and Peace will prevail.
