The Federal Election Commission has declared Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein eligible to receive federal matching funds. To become eligible, a candidate must raise a threshold amount of $100,000 by collecting at least $5,000 in 20 different states in amounts of no more than $250 per individual.
On March 28, the Stein campaign filed data on such contributions from 21 states. The FEC has requested that the United States Treasury make an initial payment of $100,000 to the Steins campaign. Her campaign may now submit additional contributions for matching funds on the first business day of every month.
