The Death of The Ball Turret Gunner
From my mother’s sleep I fell into the State,
And I hunched in its belly till my wet fur froze.
Six miles from earth, loosed from its dream of life,
I woke to black flak and the nightmare fighters.
When I died they washed me out of the turret with a hose.
According to this article at the Green Party Peace Action Committee’s website, over 15,000 people have been arrested in the United States for protesting against the war on Iraq since the buildup to the war in 2002. As Malachy Kilbride says, “…we are now at a point in which serious jail time and stiff sentences are being meted out to those exercising their First Amendment rights”
That 15,000 figure was not the focus of the press release. The focus was on a fellow named zool, who was arrested for protesting at a congressional hearing by General David Petraeus. The full press release is below the fold… Continue Reading
