Green Party member Renée Goddard has been selected to serve as mayor of Fairfax, California.
Goddard, a member of the Fairfax Town Council since 2013, was appointed by the other members of the council. Fellow Green councilmember John Reed, who served as mayor previously, was selected to be vice mayor.
When she became a councilmember two years ago, Goddard said, “If government is a disgrace which makes you feel ashamed before your children, then it’s time for a change. The Green Party stands for what I stand for, and is willing to look at the larger collage of people’s needs and human rights and drive the necessary steps to accomplish the job.”
Marin County, California Green Party co-chair Marnie Glickman has been elected to the Dixie School Board in San Rafael, California.
Glickman finished second out of four candidates with 28% of the vote. The top two finishers won seats. The Marin Independent Journal endorsed Glickman in late September.
The Marin Independent Journal has endorsed Marin County, California Green Party co-chair Marnie Glickman for the Dixie School District school board.
The newspaper writes that Glickman is one of just two candidates “who are parents of children in Dixie schools. That day-to-day contact with district schools is helpful to any school board. … Glickman, best known around Marin for her work with the Green Party, manages a nonprofit and has two children attending Dixie schools.”
